Description: For ease of identification later, it is best to be specific when describing the project. "Fishing standup" is better than "standup"; "Coffee Mill #409 label" rather than "box wrap"; "Tennis Shoe 30-sheet Bleed" rather than "bleed". For commercial pieces, it is often very helpful to understand the use of the product requested. If we understand the application, we can better offer suggestions for substrate, finishing and packing.
Quantities: This seems like a rather obvious question, but, in fact, it can be an area of confusion. Our policy is to frame our quotation to match the product that we are shipping. In other words, if the order is for 5000 posters and we are asked to trim, pack and ship finished posters, we will quote 5000 units. If, on the other hand, we're asked to quote 5000 headers in two up press sheets for shipment to your finisher, we will quote 2500 units.
If you are contracting someone else for additional finishing operations, we assume that the quantity you request includes all of the setup and waste factors for all of the following operations. If you are unsure of the finishers needs, let us know and we will offer an educated suggestion.
It is also helpful to know if you allow billable over run and/or under run.
Size: The finished size of the piece is always important information. In addition, if we are providing printed sheets for your finisher, the size of the press sheet they expect is very important information as well.
With finished size and press sheet size, we can determine if we have ample room for our gripper and color bar. When in doubt, we will be glad to coordinate with your finisher. Because outdoor products are standardized, the descriptive name (30-sheet, 30-sheet bleed, 8-sheet, king-size bus, etc.) should be all we need.
Prepress: If you are furnishing film, please visit our film specification page. If you wish to furnish a disk, for more information, please visit our disk specifications page . It is also important to indicate what proofing requirements you have. Some customers have gone through the proofing stage and expect us simply to produce film. Others require proofs to approve final color. Please use this space to indicate your requirements.
Ink: Again, the more specific you can be, the more competitive we can be. Please indicate the specific PMS colors if possible, including specific metallic or Day-Glo colors. For our commercial printing products, we offer inline varnish and aqueous coatings as well as offline UV coating. Unless specified, we will assume that your project prints one side only. For outdoor products, we will assume that each section contains the ink colors indicated unless you specify differently.
Stock/Paper: We stock the most common substrates for litho outdoor advertising products and digital products. Please indicate your preference.
Commercial substrate choices sometimes seem endless. Almost every paper made is available to us. However, on occasion there are size limitations and there are always minimum order requirements -- in some cases minimum orders can be as large as 10,000 lbs. Please indicate your first choice of stock, but also indicate if you will accept a substitution. The abilityto use a substitute stock can often allow us to lessen the cost effect of minimum orders.
Finishing: Outdoor products are folded (or rolled in some cases), collated and packed for shipment. If you have specific requirements, please indicate here.
For commercial products, the key here is as much detail as possible. We will look at vague specifications as license to alter the specifications as needed. For displays, we will suggest the most common approach. For complex displays, we will contact you to determine the best approach. Often, we suggest providing a prototype to gain approval of construction before a quote is prepared. We will be happy to discuss your needs.
Please give some thought to how we should pack the final product.
FOB: This acronym stands for "Freight on Board". This refers to how freight costs are determined. FOB Unigraphic (or "our dock") means there are no freight charges included in our quotation. Please indicate the zip code of the consignee if you wish freight costs included in our quotation.
Freight charges for products that drop ship to various locations cannot be estimated unless we know the destination and the quantity being shipped to that location. Quotations for products that drop ship (this includes most outdoor advertising products) will, as a rule, not include freight. We also charge a handling fee (Drop Ship Charge) of approximately $3.00 per destination to cover the preparation of shipping paperwork and the maintenance of records.
Price Quotation: Unless specifically stated, the price quoted is valid for 60 days from date of quotation, and is subject to review after that point. All quotations are also subject to revision upon review of art, final specifications and/or delivery requirements. Unless specifically stated in writing, payment terms are net 30 days to customers who have established a credit relationship with Unigraphic.
Prices quoted do not include applicable sales tax. Unigraphic is required to collect and remit sales tax for products shipped to locations in Massachusetts. Tax liability occurs at the point of sale, which is defined as the time and place where possession is transferred to our customer or our customer's designee. Sales tax will not be levied if you possess a valid exemption certificate from the state to which the product is shipped. Because each state has different tax rates and requirements, specific information concerning ship-to locations will help us advise you of tax liability and options. |
